Has anyone experienced a fault on the Mazda 2 with the clutch? I bought a brand new Mazda 2 in May 2018 and never had any problems with it until the last three to four weeks. When I reverse onto my drive ( which is steep) I’m experiencing a terrible shudder with the clutch.

The Mazda garage has told me that it’s a characteristic fault on that car and nothing can be done!!

I’ve had many different cars during my life and in the forty years I’ve lived at this address, I’ve never had this problem.

The hire car which I’ve been given is also a Mazda 2, and there is no problem with that.

Hi Bill. Doesn’t sound quite right, and the fact that the loan car doesn’t have the same problem suggests that they are either incorrect or not telling you the truth…

My car’s clutch has just packed up on a Mazda 2 65 plate – and that with only 26,000 miles on the clock.

Unfortunately it is well out of warranty time-wise, so it is down to me to repair. Mazda want £1800 for the repair and a local firm will do it for £1425 using the same parts so I’ve gone for them. I’ve never had to replace a clutch on any of my cars until now and never realised that they are so expensive to repair. I’ve had more than my fair share of troubles with this car and we seem to be going backwards reliability and repair wise as clutch troubles seem to be well documented on the internet forums for this model.

Not a great start to the new year!
